I am the owner of several Nanny related websites (my day job) including NannyClassifieds.com and 4nanny.com. We are getting ready to launch another site that I have very high hopes for. My obsession for some reason is cooking. My mother never cooked, hated it actually, so I don't know where my love for it came from, but its here. I also love to try new foods and sample new restaurants. That's where JerseyBiters comes in.

My Video is up on ImCooked.com

Hey Everyone,

The video we shot last fall is finally up on ImCooked.com. It was an audition video we did for the Rachel Ray show. It didn't get picked, but we had so much fun doing it. We spoofed a couple of the popular cooking shows, though you probably can't pick up on much from the edited version that's up. My kids were "Emeril's Band" the set is right out of "Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee" and I used a lot of Rachel Ray props and references. Like I said, we had so much fun with this. My gue… Continue

Jersey Bites in Currents Magazine

Well, I have to share my news. I submitted an article to Currents Magazine and they loved it. It is going to appear in the June issue along with a photo of the dish. I wrote an article about homegrown tomatoes and my father's amazing tomato plants when I was a kid. The article finishes with the Orzo recipe I make with tomatoes, basil, feta, and black olives. They've asked me to submit another article for the July issue. What great PR for Jersey Bites. Now I… Continue

I have been to the Ship Wreck many times over the years. Many years ago it was a pretty rough bar! Lots of old stories about what happened in there. In fact the guy that wrote the book about finding a German U Boat off the coast of New Jersey hung out there. I have not been to the Labrador Lounge but have heard many good things about it. I have biked past it but never got back in the evening.

Hi Deb
You can get to Tardi's in Point Pleasant easily. It is on Broadway, near the railroad crossing. It is just east of Spike's fish store if you know where that is. I saw your site and it looked very interesting. I am originally from North Jersey, near Newark but have owned in Bay Head for 25 years now. I spent all my summers in Point Pleasant. There are more and more great places to eat down there and I would value your comments. I recently retired from 34 years with IBM and plan on spending the summer at Bay Head. Hope to hear from you again

Hi Deb, I have a brother in Red Bank. He grew up in Toms River, but his wife was from Long Branch. She is an administrator at that community college there, I think it's called Brookdale. Her maiden name was Linda DiBartolis. She has a connection to the E-Street band because her best friend's husband went to college with Clarence Clemmons. They always got backstage passes and heads up when the band is played locally.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Deb. I see you live in Point Pleasant, a place I am very familiar with (Jenkinson's Ken's Landing). My three brothers live at the shore, in Red Bank, Toms River, and Forked River, respectively. I only get back there every 3-4 years. I'm an active member of a website called aboutnewjersey.com started by a guy named Robert Rosetta who lives in Toms River. I'll try to contribute when I can, but not being physically present in New Jersey does limit my knowledge of what's going on in the restaurant scene.

It looks like it's midnight here in short hills. What a gloomy day. I hope this weekend isn't so rainy.

There's a group of us NJ foodies on bakespace. I don't know if that's competition or not and I've been there for a while now so I can't get into any trouble with the moderator/owner/my friend. lol If you guys aren't competition I'll spread the word. If you are, I'm sure you'll understand then that I can't. You have a great thing going here! Kudos to you!
