Jersey Biters

A community for friends and food in New Jersey!

Not really a question, but a comment. I made some homemade chicken soup this week. I like when a soup has some nice chunks of chicken, so I added some extra. OK, here's where it might get weird... I had some leftover cranberry sauce and topped my bowl of soup with a slice. I thought it would melt, but it didn't. With every chunk of chicken I took a piece of the cranberry sauce. It was so good! The hot soup with the cool cranberry, yummy! Now I have to tell you that I am not a real picky eater, so I don't know how strange this is. The only person I had to try it out on was my husband, and those of you who know him know that he eats anything. Anyway, I think it's worth giving it a try. Why should cranberry sauce be just for Thanksgiving?

You do come up with some strange combinations Jen. But actually, the Butternut squash Turkey Chili I make calls for cranberries. When I first read the recipes I was a little skeptical, but its actually really good. You can find the recipe on Jersey Bites. http://www.jerseybites.com/2008/01/turkey-butternut-squash-crockpot...

It doesn't sound so wierd if you like cranberries. If I liked cranberries, I might give it a try! I do like to add shredded mozzarella to my chicken soup.
